Job summary

Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities is seeking a Software & Hardware Asset Manager to own the day-to-day asset portfolio. You’ll ensure software licences and hardware assets are tracked, compliant, optimised, and managed through their lifecycle, working with Digital IT, Procurement, Finance, vendors and service teams.

This role suits someone who blends operational excellence with data quality, governance, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement, delivering value from technology

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Software and/or Hardware Asset Management.
• Strong knowledge of software licensing, compliance, and asset lifecycle management.
• Experience with ServiceNow, CMDB, SAM Pro, Power BI, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to data quality.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Proactive, continuous improvement mindset with collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate software and hardware asset records with strong data governance across ServiceNow and asset management platforms.
• Govern the end-to-end lifecycle of assets.
• Monitor software licence usage, compliance, and consumption to optimise costs.
• Provide asset insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and renewal planning.
• Develop dashboards and reports to improve asset visibility and decision‑making.
• Drive continuous improvement of asset management processes, workflows, governance practices, and ServiceNow SAM capabilities.
• Support software audits and ensure licensing compliance.

Te whiwhinga mahi - Our opportunity

As Software & Hardware Asset Manager, you'll be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of Kāinga Ora's technology asset portfolio. You'll ensure software licences and hardware assets are accurately tracked, compliant, optimised, and managed throughout their lifecycle. Working closely with Digital IT, Procurement, Finance, vendors and service teams, you'll help maintain the integrity of asset data, support budgeting and forecasting activities, contribute to compliance and audit readiness, and identify opportunities to improve processes and maximise value from technology investments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining operational excellence, data quality, governance, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Maintain accurate software and hardware asset records, ensuring strong data quality and governance across ServiceNow and asset management platforms
• Manage the end-to-end governance of the lifecycle of assets
• Monitor software licence usage, compliance, and consumption to optimise costs, minimise risk, and support audit readiness
• Partner with business, technology, procurement, and vendor teams to provide asset insights that support budgeting, forecasting, and renewal planning
• Analyse asset performance, consumption, and cost trends, identifying risks, variances, and opportunities for optimisation
• Develop and maintain meaningful dashboards, reports, documentation, and knowledge resources that improve asset visibility and decision‑making
• Drive continuous improvement of asset management processes, workflows, governance practices, and ServiceNow SAM capabilities
• Support software audits, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements and organisational standards

• Proven experience in Software and/or Hardware Asset Management
• Strong knowledge of software licensing, compliance, and asset lifecycle management
• Experience with ServiceNow, CMDB, SAM Pro, Power BI, or similar platforms
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with an eye for detail and data quality
• Strong commercial awareness with experience analysing licence consumption, identifying cost optimisation opportunities, and ensuring software investments deliver maximum value while maintaining compliance and operational continuity
• Ability to interpret licensing agreements, consumption data, and vendor contracts
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• A proactive, continuous improvement mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities
• The ability to work collaboratively across business, technology, procurement, and vendor teams
