Mō te tūnga| About therole

Across our region we are working with tamariki, rangatahi and their whaanau to make positive changes in our community. We need people who have knowledge, experience and who are deeply passionate about whaanau wellbeing.

Our Pukekohekohe office works hard to do things differently within the foundation of a iwi and community led approach focused on awhi and supporting whaanau. We acknowledge that there is much work to do but we are up for it.

The Pukekohekohe area spans the eastern coast of Tikapa Moana | Hauraki Gulf to the western coast of Ngaa Tai o Rehua | Tasman Sea. It includes the southern reaches of the Manukau Harbour and the northern reaches of the Waikato River.

It includes the coastal settlements of the Aawhitu Peninsula, Port Waikato, and Kaiaua, as well as the townships of Pukekohekohe, Waiuku, Tuakau and Pokeno.

The Pukekohekohe area is predominately a rural area, supported by towns, settlements and marae.

Ideally you will have sound social work experience to contribute and build on and some other key requirements of these positions are:

  • Full registration with New Zealand's Social Work Registration Board (SWRB)

  • A social worker qualification recognised by the SWRB

  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Maaori, and Pacific peoples' culture

  • Your superpowers would include emotional empathy, teamwork, leadership and local knowledge of communities and relationships.

  • A strong and genuine commitment to strength-based practice and an authentic commitment to working alongside whaanau is essential.

  • Demonstrated resilience, problem solving techniques and flexibility

  • Strong PC and Microsoft Office Suite skills with excellent report writing skills
