Purpose

The purpose of the position is to provide leadership, knowledge, social work expertise and to contribute towards the development of child and whanau centred services. This role supports a comprehensive home visiting service that focuses on improving child health.

Key accountabilities
  • Build sustained and trusting relationships with parents/caregivers, children and their families to support their needs, goals and aspirations.
  • Provide comprehensive holistic wellbeing assessments.
  • Provide intensive support and holistic intervention.
  • Provide holistic social work support tailored to meet the needs of the family and child, ensuring wellbeing and safety for the family.
  • Provide health education activities and support to increase health literacy and help seeking behaviours.
  • Support parents to develop positive and healthy parenting skills, attachment and bonding.
Key Competencies
  • Degree in Social Work
  • Experience in Health sector beneficial but not essential
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess and make decisions
  • Demonstrate the ability to build and maintain relationships with whanau.
