Job summary

Whangārei District Council seeks a Communications and Engagement Business Partner to support the Waters Group for a six-month fixed-term period. The role emphasizes developing innovative engagement strategies and effective community connections to ensure council projects meet community needs.

You will establish relationships with hapū, community groups and internal stakeholders, facilitate discussions, and implement compliant communications plans.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in communications, marketing or social sciences.
• Knowledge of LGOIMA, Local Government Act and other relevant legislation.
• Ability to facilitate and mediate between the Council, the community and media.
• Strong understanding of target audiences and how to reach them.
• Experience using multiple communications channels to engage communities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engagement and communications programmes for the Waters Group.
• Connect residents and stakeholders with Council projects to ensure clear, timely communication.
• Build and maintain relationships with hapū, community groups and internal/external partners.
• Ensure communications meet legislative requirements and organisational goals.
