Job summary

AWF New Zealand seeks an STMS - Site Safety Management Supervisor for roading projects. You will manage site traffic operations, install TMP-compliant signs and barriers, and lead safety checks on site.

You will supervise crews, deliver toolbox talks, and enforce health and safety standards while coordinating Stop/Go operations to maintain safe traffic flow.

Qualifications

• Current STMS qualification (Cat A/B) is required.
• Valid NZ Class 1 or 2 driving licence is required.
• Experience leading on-road traffic management operations.

Responsibilities

• Set up sites with signs, cones and barriers per TMP.
• Lead on-road safety and Stop/Go operations, make real-time risk decisions.
• Brief on-site crews and conduct toolbox talks; perform safety checks.
• Enforce health and safety regulations and monitor hazards on site.
• Direct Traffic Controllers and field crews; manage back-of-TTM truck work.

Job description

ROLE: STMS - Site Safety Management Supervisor Roading + Class 1 or 2 Driving Licence.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

• Required a current STMS qualification (STMS Cat A/B).
• Site Setup: Transporting and installing signs, cones, and safety barriers according to an approved Traffic Management Plan (TMP).
• Traffic Control: Leading on-road safety, setting up Stop/Go operations, and making real-time, risk-based decisions to manage live traffic flow.
• Crew Supervision: Briefing on-site crews, conducting toolbox talks, and leading safety checks.
• Safety Management: Enforcing health and safety regulations, ensuring crew compliance, and monitoring hazards
• Team Leadership: Briefing Traffic Controllers (TTMW), directing stop/go operations, and overseeing field crews.
• Some Labouring and TTMW required working from back of TTM truck.
