WATTS & HUGHES CONSTRUCTION GROUP LIMITED is seeking a Site Safety Manager to lead health and safety on project sites in Tauranga, New Zealand. You will work with Project Managers, Site Managers, employees and subcontractors to maintain a strong safety culture and ensure practical, compliant safety systems are implemented and sustained.

You will deliver site inductions and toolbox talks, conduct on-site inspections, investigate incidents, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Confident communicator with practical safety construction experience.
  • Construction safety industry experience – minimum 3 years (desirable)
  • Formal incident investigation training (desirable)
  • Experience with systems such as Procore, Mitti, Breadcrumb or BWare (desirable)
  • Site Safe Supervisor qualification or equivalent (desirable)
  • Level 4 or above Safety qualification (desirable)
  • Strong and credible safety leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Supportive team environment with a strong commitment to health and safety.

As Site Safety Manager, you will work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, employees, and subcontractors to ensure health and safety and the safety culture remain at a high level, together with systems effectively implemented and maintained. You will provide practical advice, conduct site inspections, investigate incidents, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This is a project site-based role requiring a proactive professional who can build strong relationships with project teams, subcontractors, and clients while ensuring excellent safety outcomes.
