Job summary

Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children is seeking a committed leader to manage our Masterton site, providing strong leadership and delivering high quality child protection services to tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau.

Reporting to the Regional Commissioner, you will champion partner-centred approaches with iwi/Māori partners, drive strategic planning, financial management and risk oversight in a complex environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of indigenous models of practice and Maori cultural frameworks.
• Understanding Te Reo Me Ona Tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Ability to lead large teams (approx. 40 staff) in social services.
• Strong relationship and stakeholder management.
• Strategic business planning and financial management.
• Risk management and decision making.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership and manage the delivery of high‑quality child protection services to tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.
• Support and facilitate critical planning to implement and deliver on our strategic outcomes and drive change.
• Champion partner-centred approaches with iwi/Māori partners and lead multi-agency collaboration.
• Model mana tamaiti, whakapapa and whānaungātanga in practice and ensure safety and equity.
