Downer's Energy & Utilities business is seeking a Site Engineer to join our project delivery team in Christchurch, supporting critical infrastructure works for the Department of Corrections. This is a full-time, site-based role, perfect for a motivated engineer who thrives in fast-paced construction environments and values contributing to meaningful work. Reporting to the Project Engineer you'll be part of a collaborative delivery team working on the design and construction of multiple facilities. What You'll Do

• Setting out the works
• Liaising with the project planning manager regarding construction programmes
• Checking materials and work in progress for compliance with the specified requirements
• Observing safety requirements
• Resolving technical issues with suppliers and subcontractors
• Quality control in accordance with method statements, quality plans and inspection and test plans
• Liaising with the procurement team to define the specific requirements
• Measurement and valuation of work
• Providing data in relation to variations and site instructions
• Prepare record drawings, technical reports and maintaining a site diary

What We're Looking For

• Tertiary qualification in engineering and minimum 5 years' site-based experience
• Current Class 1 driver's license
• Proven understanding of site safety, hazards, and control measures
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD/BIM experience a plus
• Preferred: experience in water infrastructure construction
