About the role

As a Signals Field Engineer in the Auckland Metro, you will play a key role in maintaining and upgrading our signalling systems. You’ll ensure the safe and efficient operation of critical rail infrastructure, carrying out inspections, fault diagnosis, repairs, and commissioning work. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work outdoors, often in a live rail environment. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across maintenance and operations to keep services running smoothly and safely.

What you will bring

We’re looking for someone with a safety-first mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You’ll also bring:

  • An engineering qualification in electrical, electronic, or signalling (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with signalling systems, ideally in rail or a similar safety-critical environment
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Clear communication and a commitment to safety at all times
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • A full, clean driver licence

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of rail industry standards and practices
  • Experience with project delivery and commissioning activities
