Job description

Playcentre Aotearoa is a well-known and loved Early Childhood organisation with over 80 years of supporting parents to take the lead in their children’s learning through play. Playcentre operates over 400 Playcentres throughout the country.

Tamahere Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child-led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment for learning, and positively support the Playcentre education programme. You will be a leader who encourages others to thrive; you will model Playcentre philosophy and good practice while supporting whānau to gain confidence to have a go themselves.

Days & hours:

Monday – Friday 9am–12.30pm. This is a fixed-term position ending 19 September 2025.

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.
  2. Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  1. Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  2. A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy.
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults.
  4. Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.
  5. Knowledge of ECE regulations.
  6. Ability to use technology.
