Job summary

An early childhood education center in Nelson is seeking a motivated session facilitator to join their vibrant community. In this part-time, permanent role, you will guide session activities and support the education programme through child-led play. The ideal candidate will have early childhood qualifications and strong communication skills, fostering a sense of belonging for families in the center.

Qualifications

  • Hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to achieve this.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • A passion for playcentre and their philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Guide session activities and facilitate learning using child-led play.

Playcentre Aotearoa is a well known and loved early childhood organisation with over 80 years of supporting parents to take the lead in their children’s learning through play. Playcentre operates over 400 playcentres throughout the country.

Tākaka Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic session facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant playcentre community. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child-led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment for learning and positively support the playcentre education programme. You will be a leader who encourages others to thrive; you will model playcentre philosophy and good practice while supporting whānau to gain confidence to have a go themselves.

Negotiable with the successful candidate

Days & hours

Thursdays 9:30am to 1:15pm, 3.75 hours per week. This is a permanent position during school term time only.

The ideal candidate will
  • Hold a playcentre course 3 qualification or higher or an early childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.
  • Hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to achieve this.
