Job summary

A respected Early Childhood organisation is seeking a motivated session facilitator to support children's learning through play at Reporoa Playcentre. The ideal candidate will hold relevant qualifications in Early Childhood education and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. This role involves guiding session activities and facilitating learning, embedded in a supportive and vibrant community environment.

Qualifications

  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsibilities

  • Guide session activities and facilitate child-led play.
  • Support planning and assessment for learning.
  • Model Playcentre philosophy and support whānau.

Skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of ECE regulations
Ability to use technology

Education

Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher
Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher

Overview

Playcentre Aotearoa, is a well known and loved Early Childhood organisation with over 80 years of supporting parents to take the lead in their children’s learning through play. Playcentre operates over 400 Playcentres throughout the country.

Reporoa Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic session facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child-led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment for learning and positively support the Playcentre education programme. You will be a leader who encourages others to thrive; you will model Playcentre philosophy and good practice while supporting whānau to gain confidence to have a go themselves.

6 October 2025 – Negotiable for the successful candidate

Days & hours:

Permanent; 3 days a week Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30 am–12:30 pm 9 hours p/w (during term time only)

The ideal candidate will need to have the following:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher or Primary Teaching that has completed the Playcentre Primary Teacher Bridging Award or be prepared to complete the Bridging Award.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.
