Job summary

AB Equipment in North Harbour, NZ is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic for construction equipment. You will work autonomously in the field or our well-equipped workshop, fault-finding and repairing hydraulic, mechanical and electrical issues while delivering outstanding customer service.

This role offers a competitive hourly rate with overtime, tool allowance, a discounted fuel card, ongoing training, and medical and life insurance benefits across NZ.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified in Diesel / Heavy Plant or equivalent.
• Able to fault-find and repair hydraulic, mechanical and electrical issues.
• Full driver’s licence required; endorsements preferred but not essential.

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team. You will be working autonomously in the field or in our well-equipped workshop. Organisational skills are a must in this role, and you will understand the value of providing exceptional customer service.

What you will need to succeed

• Trade qualified in Diesel / Heavy Plant or equivalent, with relevant experience.
• Able to work independently in the field and confidently fault-find and repair hydraulic, mechanical and electrical issues.
• Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Full driver's licence required; F, W, T and R endorsements preferred but not essential.
• Safety-conscious team player with a positive can-do attitude, willingness to learn new equipment, basic Windows 365 skills and availability for the call-out roster.
