Job summary

WALSH Trust in Auckland is seeking an experienced leader to manage our Perinatal and Community Mental Health Services, delivering recovery-focused, person-centred care for individuals, parents, pēpi, whānau and communities across West Auckland.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years in a management or leadership role in mental health services.
  • Tertiary qualification and HPCA Act registration or DAPAANZ registration.
  • Strong knowledge of community mental health in Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Experience in perinatal mental health or related services.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe services.
  • Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team of registered health professionals and support workers delivering perinatal and community mental health services.
  • Foster a culture of clinical excellence, innovation, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with Te Whatu Ora, primary care providers, maternity services, community organisations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure services are person-centred, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned with best practice.
  • Support positive outcomes for tāngata whai ora, parents, pēpi, and whānau through collaborative and integrated service delivery.
  • Manage operational performance, workforce planning, budgets, and service contracts; champion quality improvement, risk management, and service development initiatives.

What You'll Do

What You'll Bring
  • At least two years' experience in a management or leadership role within mental health services
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and current registration under the HPCA Act and current practising certificate, or DAPAANZ registration
  • Strong knowledge of community mental health service delivery in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Experience working within perinatal mental health, maternal wellbeing, community mental health, or closely related services
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts, resources, and operational performance
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the delivery of culturally safe and equitable services
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for individuals, whānau, and communities
