Location: Wellington Regional Hospital or Hutt Hospital

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role

At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, our Patient Administration Service is the engine room that keeps hospital services moving. Supporting more than 300 administration professionals across Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley Hospitals, we partner with clinical teams to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.

This is more than a Service administration role. It's an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to patient care while working in one of New Zealand's largest and most diverse healthcare environments.

We're looking for people who:

  • Love organising and coordinating busy workloads.
  • Enjoy solving problems and finding smarter ways of working.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days are the same.
  • Build positive relationships with other services, people leaders and colleagues.
  • Take pride in delivering exceptional customer service and creating a positive experience for everyone they support.

As we continue to modernise and improve our administration services, you'll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, support innovation, and help shape the future of patient administration across our hospitals.

If you're looking for a career where your work truly matters and where you'll be part of a supportive team dedicated to improving patient outcomes every day, we would love to welcome you to PAS.

This role operates Monday to Friday and offers a salary range of $75,000 to $85,000, depending on experience.

About the Team/Service/Location

Join a supportive and collaborative team based in Wellington Hospital that plays a vital role in delivering high-quality administration services to patients, clinicians and the wider district. Every day is different, and you'll work in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, customer service and attention to detail are essential. You will build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders while contributing to a service that helps ensure patients receive timely and coordinated care. We value people who are proactive, enjoy working together, and are committed to making a positive difference.

About you

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service, and is passionate about supporting patients and clinical teams. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, positive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to providing professional and compassionate customer service to patients, whānau and colleagues.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and a range of computer systems, with the ability to quickly learn new applications and accurately maintain patient information.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the initiative to identify opportunities to improve processes, support change, and contribute to an efficient and effective Patient Administration Service.
  • Previous administration or customer service experience, preferably within a healthcare or large service environment, is desirable, along with a commitment to confidentiality, accuracy and delivering high-quality outcomes.
