Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 16th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

We’re an agency that is ambitious about great work and our people, without taking ourselves too seriously.

At Sprocket, your career won’t stand still. You’ll have a structured development plan, clear progression opportunities and regular feedback to help you build your skills, responsibilities and earning potential. And when you go above and beyond, we make sure it’s recognised and rewarded.

We believe great work happens when people enjoy where they work. That means quarterly team away days, Friday WFH, a well‑stocked drinks fridge and free parking right outside the office (a surprisingly good perk in Auckland!).

Most importantly, you’ll join an independent, growing digital agency where you’ll have autonomy, responsibility and a genuine voice in how we do things.

If you’re ambitious, talented and looking for somewhere you can make an impact while progressing your career, Sprocket could be your next move.

A little bit about the role:

This is a great opportunity for an up‑and‑coming SEO specialist who has the foundations established and is ready to take their skills to the next level.

Working closely with our SEO Manager and wider digital team, you’ll get hands‑on across technical SEO, content optimisation, keyword and competitor research, reporting and AI‑driven search — helping execute strategies that deliver measurable results for our clients.

We want someone that is curious, analytical and keen to understand not just what is happening, but why. You’ll enjoy digging into data, solving problems and turning insights into action.

Most importantly, this is a role designed to develop your career. You’ll have the support, mentoring and structured development to build your technical expertise, strategic thinking and client‑facing confidence — with a clear pathway to taking on greater ownership as you grow.

As an SEO Analyst, you will be responsible for:
  • Implementing technical SEO and content strategies across a portfolio of clients, under the guidance of the SEO Manager.
  • Conducting keyword research, on‑page optimisation, and technical SEO audits.
  • Assisting with link building initiatives and off‑page strategy execution.
  • Supporting AI search optimisation efforts, including Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), to help improve client visibility across AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other LLM‑powered search tools.
  • Monitoring and analysing campaign performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contributing to monthly client reports, tracking progress against agreed KPIs.
  • Leveraging best practice AI to improve both SEO quality and efficiency
  • Supporting content writers with SEO briefs and on‑page recommendations to ensure content is optimised for search.
  • Staying current with search engine algorithm updates and SEO best practices, and sharing learnings with the team.
  • Staying up to date with AI SEO developments, ensuring our clients are being optimised towards LLM placements
  • Assisting with technical audits and helping preparation findings for client presentations.
Key requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in SEO, agency experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of on‑page, off‑page, and technical SEO fundamentals.
  • Comfortable working with SEO tools such as Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and Google Business Profile.
  • Working knowledge of common content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Shopify, or Magento.
  • Experience using AI LLM’s or SEO specific tools to improve workflow
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Good communication skills, with a willingness to develop client‑facing confidence over time.
  • A genuine curiosity for SEO and a desire to keep learning as the industry evolves.
  • Awareness of AI search trends such as AEO and GEO, and an interest in developing deeper knowledge of how LLMs influence search visibility.
What's in it for you?
  • Career Advancement – Structured development plans, clear progression opportunities and support to take your SEO career to the next level.
  • Reward and Recognition – Go above and beyond and you’ll be recognised for it through our reward and recognition programme.
  • Autonomy– The freedom to shape SEO strategy, test new ideas and influence how Sprocket approaches SEO and AI‑driven search.
  • Flexibility built in – Collaborate with the team Monday–Thursday, then enjoy WFH Fridays, plus free parking right outside the office.
  • Good people. Good times. – Quarterly away days, regular team events, a stocked drinks fridge and a culture that takes the work seriously — but not ourselves.
