Job summary

Tiaki Wai invites a senior Facilities Design lead in Wellington to combine people leadership with high‑level technical direction, guiding a facilities design team and shaping critical water infrastructure projects.

You will provide technical direction, challenge design assumptions, influence technical standards and ensure safe, compliant, and timely delivery across projects. Collaboration across groups and external partners is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering or Diploma in Engineering.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status highly desired.
• 10+ years post-qualification experience in water infrastructure design and delivery.
• Strong knowledge of three waters facilities design.
• Proven experience leading functional or project teams with coaching and development.
• Sound project management across contracts, scheduling, budgets and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong commercial acumen and collaboration with internal teams, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing Facilities Design team with clear direction, coaching, mentoring and technical leadership.
• Provide technical advice and design assurance across significant facilities projects, challenging assumptions and managing technical risks.
• Drive development and continuous improvement of facilities design and construction standards.
• Manage internally delivered facilities projects, ensuring quality solutions are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
