Job summary

New Zealand Transport Agency invites applications for a Principal Compliance Officer based in Palmerston North. You will lead regulatory compliance efforts, guide investigations and audits, and mentor team members to foster continuous improvement and evidence-based decision making.

You will work with the Safer Commercial Transport team to ensure safety and compliance across the transport sector, build stakeholder relationships, and apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in public service

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in regulatory/compliance roles with complex frameworks.
• Proven ability to lead investigations or audits and report outcomes.
• Knowledge of Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in public service.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day delivery of the work programme to meet KPIs.
• Coach, mentor and lead team members in risk, audits and interventions.
• Engage with operators, drivers and stakeholders on compliance matters.
• Apply regulatory tools to ensure safety and high compliance standards.
