Job summary

NZTA | Waka Kotahi is seeking a Principal Compliance Officer to lead regulatory work and drive continuous improvement. Based in Auckland, you will support the Regional Manager Compliance and the Safer Commercial Transport team, delivering quality work and evidence-based decisions.

You will manage a busy work programme, coach staff, and engage with operators and stakeholders to ensure high safety and compliance standards. A salary Band is offered with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in regulatory or compliance environments.
• Proven ability to lead complex investigations or audits.
• Experience in reporting on workflow and outcomes and communicating progress.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with systems thinking.
• Experience in mentoring and coaching others.
• Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and credibility.

Responsibilities

• Managing day to day delivery of the work programme to meet key targets.
• Coaching, mentoring and leading team members in risk identification, audits, investigations and continuous improvement.
• Engaging with operators, drivers, stakeholders and service providers on compliance matters.
• Using regulatory tools to ensure safety and compliance of transport service licence holders.
