Job summary

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is seeking three Principal Engineers, Detection and Response to advance its cyber defence capabilities. You will design and tune detection rules, hunt threats, and lead incident response across SIEM, XDR and EDR platforms while aligning with NZISM and public sector requirements.

You will provide technical guidance, develop detection content, and drive improvements with a practical, evidence-based approach.

Qualifications

• Strong detection engineering experience across SIEM, XDR and EDR platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, tune and manage detection rules and analytics.
• Investigate suspicious activity and hunt threats using telemetry and threat intelligence.
• Provide technical guidance and strengthen detection and response practices.
• Contribute to knowledge of NZISM and public sector requirements.
