Senior teacher / centre manager for community kindergarten on the beautiful Thames Coast (just 10 minutes drive from Thames)

Location: Te Puru / full-time, 40 hours/week / Extended Parity

We're looking for a dedicatedsenior teacher to guide our small independent kindergarten on the stunning Thames Coast.

Our vibrant kindy is known for its warm, supportive environment and sense of community. We have a large, open play area and regularly take the tamariki on beach and park excursions. Our daily rhythm is mostly free play, with shared mealtimes and mat time providing structure. We have grown our roll significantly after extending our hours and service at the beginning of the year. Our ideal candidate is someone who is committed to taking our vision of a sustainable, vibrant kindergarten forward.

About the role:
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of our kindergarten, working alongside two other teachers. This is a hands-on role that involves being on the floor teaching as well as management duties.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting the teaching team

  • Actively engaging with tamariki in daily teaching and learning

  • Overseeing curriculum planning and implementation

  • Fostering strong relationships with whānau and the wider community

  • Reporting to a committed and collaborative governance committee.

Position details:

  • Full-time: 40 hours per week

  • Extended pay parity.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds a recognised ECE qualification and full teacher registration

  • Comprehensive knowledge of licencing and compliance
  • Has proven leadership experience or is ready to step into a senior role

  • Is comfortable working in a collaborative, community-led environment

  • Shares our values of connection, play, and respect for tamariki

  • Current New Zealand resident with current New Zealand teacher registration.
