Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Wellington is seeking an experienced Senior System Test Engineer to join our Tekron team.

You will perform system-level testing and validation across embedded hardware and software, developing automated test solutions and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure product readiness and reliability. You will design test plans, execute validation across functional, integration, and performance tests, investigate defects, and help refine test tools

Qualifications

• Must have the right to work in New Zealand.
• Proven experience testing complex integrated hardware and software systems.
• Experience developing automated test frameworks and repeatable validation processes.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and strategic problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, and PTP/NTP time synchronisation.
• Experience developing test automation using Python, C#, or embedded C.
• Understanding of embedded systems, hardware/software integration, and system performance testing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with diverse audiences.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives and drive tasks to completion.

Responsibilities

• Deliver system-level testing and validation activities for new product development.
• Design, develop, and maintain test plans, procedures, and validation frameworks.
• Execute validation lifecycle across functional, integration, regression, and performance tests.
• Investigate, document, and support resolution of system defects and performance issues.
• Develop automated test solutions and analyse test results for troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and product teams to align validation activities.
• Understand requirements and ensure validation supports successful product outcomes.
• Contribute to improvements in test tools, automation, and validation processes.
• Take ownership of validation activities and deliverables, delivering within timelines.
