Job summary

OSS Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a 6-month contract in Wellington. You will work on existing Java and JavaScript applications, refactoring to improve testability and building the unit testing capability around them.

Responsibilities include developing and maintaining Java and JavaScript code, creating unit tests and test harnesses, and refining CI/CD pipelines to incorporate automated testing.

Qualifications

• Strong Java and JavaScript development experience.
• Solid unit testing and test automation capability.
• Experience refactoring existing production code to improve testability.
• CI/CD and pipeline experience, with automated testing integration.
• Familiar with GitHub/GitHub Actions; AI-assisted development tools are a plus.

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer for a 6-month contract focused on improving code quality, unit testing and CI/CD pipelines.

You’ll work with existing Java/JavaScript applications, refactoring code where required to make it testable and building the unit testing capability around it.

What you’ll be doing:

• Develop and maintain Java and JavaScript code

• Build unit tests and test harnesses

• Refactor existing code to improve testability

• Build or enhance CI/CD pipelines to incorporate automated unit testing

• Work within established software engineering standards

• Use GitHub Copilot to assist with unit-test generation and code refactoring

• Use AI tooling within defined engineering and governance guidelines

What we’re looking for:
