Job summary

SkyCity in Auckland is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build and deliver production-ready software in a hands-on, AI-driven environment. As a Senior Software Engineer, you\'ll be a senior individual contributor within a high-performing development squad, taking ownership of the squad\'s most complex and business-critical engineering work. You\'ll design, build and deliver production-ready software, partner closely with product and technical leaders, and help elevate engineering capability across the team through mentoring, collaboration and code review. This is a hands-on role where you\'ll combine deep software engineering expertise with modern AI development practices, using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor and other emerging technologies to accelerate delivery while maintaining exceptional quality standards Design, develop, and deliver high-quality software solutions using modern development frameworks and AI-powered tools. Build applications usingReact, Next.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript Leverage AI tools and co-workers to improve development productivity and enhance engineering outcomes Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for AI-assisted software development across SkyCity Participate in code reviews, testing, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA teams, Security specialists, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions Explore and evaluate emerging AI platforms and technologies to drive innovation and efficiency

Mōu | About You

6+ years\' experience delivering production software solutions Strong software design skills and experience working across modern technology stacks Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or similar Deep understanding of Git, CI/CD, testing and modern engineering practices Experience using AI-powered development tools and the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code Outstanding debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills.A security-first mindset and experience building scalable, reliable systems Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to a range of stakeholders A genuine passion for mentoring and developing others
