Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a cross-functional team to build and implement APIs for Westpac’s Digital applications. This role includes ongoing design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of features.

You will participate in code reviews, requirement analysis discussions, and come up with technical solutions. You’ll also design and develop new product features with minimal defects and deliver sprint commitments on time, while creating and maintaining

Qualifications

• 5-7 years for intermediate and 7-10 years for senior level of commercial experience with Java, Apache Camel, SQL, Kubernetes / Docker (infrastructure), Cucumber (testing), and Jenkins (CI/CD Pipelining) or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently to deliver solutions from basic requirements.
• Capability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team. You’ll feel at ease contributing to team meetings.
• Practical Experience with CI/CD methodologies, processes, and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• high-quality code.

Responsibilities

• Build and implement APIs for Westpac’s Digital applications.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on code quality.
• Engage in requirement analysis discussions to propose technical solutions.
• Design and develop new product features with minimum defects.
• Deliver project sprint commitments on time.
• Create, review, and maintain documentation.
• Conduct POCs to research and identify optimal solutions.
• Utilise Jira and Confluence for project tracking.
• Promptly respond to production incidents by troubleshooting and providing solutions.
