Job summary

Talent requires a Senior Software Engineer on a contract basis to lead a major modernisation program, delivering scalable .NET APIs and cloud-native solutions.

Working in a hybrid Auckland environment, you will implement CI/CD and DevSecOps practices, uplift engineering standards, and collaborate with Product, Architecture and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, secure software.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience designing and delivering applications and APIs using C#/ .NET / .NET Core, in complex enterprise environments.
• Practical experience modernising applications or APIs using Microsoft Azure, including cloud-native services and gateway technologies.
• Experience across CI/CD, code quality, application security and modern software engineering standards; familiarity with SonarQube, Fortify, Mend, Snyk or Checkmarx is valuable.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, modernising applications and APIs, and improving the way software is built and delivered.
You'll be working in a modern Microsoft environment with a strong focus on .NET, Azure, APIs, CI/CD and DevSecOps, while also helping uplift engineering standards across the wider team.

What we're looking for

To be successful, you'll bring strong experience across three key areas:

1. Senior .NET / API engineering
Strong hands-on experience designing and delivering applications and APIs using C# / .NET / .NET Core, ideally within complex enterprise environments.

2. Azure and API modernisation
Practical experience modernising applications or APIs using Microsoft Azure, including cloud-native services, API integration and ideally Azure API Management or similar gateway technologies.

3. Modern engineering and DevSecOps practices
Experience across CI/CD, code quality, application security and modern software-engineering standards. Exposure to tools such as SonarQube, Fortify, Mend, Snyk or Checkmarx would be valuable, although equivalent tooling is absolutely fine.

We're particularly interested in engineers who can talk confidently about what they personally delivered, the technical decisions they made, and how their work improved quality, security, performance or maintainability.
