Job description

Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

  • Solve complex challenges
  • Build systems that matter
  • Elevate engineering impact

Are you the kind of engineer who thrives on solving complex infrastructure challenges, automating everything, and helping software just work better at scale? We’re looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our growing team and help shape the operability, reliability, and performance of our production systems. At Pushpay, our infrastructure doesn’t just support the business—it is the business. You’ll join a collaborative team that values clean code, modern tools, and continuous improvement, working alongside engineers, product managers, and QA to keep our systems running smoothly for millions of users.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and develop high-quality systems and automation tools that enhance reliability, performance, and developer velocity.
  • Debug and review code and infrastructure issues across the stack.
  • Own and improve CI/CD pipelines and monitoring practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and proactively handle incidents and post-mortems.
  • Mentor junior engineers, helping them understand not just the “what” but also the “why.”
  • Contribute to architectural reviews and cross-team guilds focused on reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering Managers and Product Managers to plan, scope, and deliver scalable systems.
  • Ensure our technical designs align with broader product and platform strategy—especially in security, operability, and compliance (PCI-DSS).
  • Take initiative to fix or flag issues before they become problems—your eyes are always on the horizon.
  • Help us raise the bar—evangelize and embody best practices within and beyond the team.

What We’re Looking For

We’re after engineers who bring practical experience and proactive problem-solving. You’ll succeed if you have:

  • 5–7+ years of relevant experience in SRE, software engineering, or systems engineering.
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language (Go, Python, Java, C#, Rust, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS strongly preferred).
  • Solid understanding of networking and web technologies.
  • Strong familiarity with CI/CD tooling and practices.
  • A clear and structured approach to problem-solving—especially in high-stakes production environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, observability tools, and scalable system design.
  • The ability to communicate clearly—whether you’re updating a stakeholder or explaining a system design to a junior dev.

Nice to Have (But Not Required)

  • Experience working in a PCI-compliant or security-sensitive environment.
  • Exposure to database technologies (relational or NoSQL).
  • Experience with machine learning or AI operations.
  • Contributions to open source or technical communities.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll collaborate across a wide network of engineers, QA, product, data, and customer teams. You’ll also represent Pushpay in the broader community through guilds, user groups, and industry events.

Why Pushpay?

We’re a team of passionate engineers, thinkers, and builders who care deeply about reliability, great code, and delivering real impact. With us, you’ll find autonomy, collaboration, and the opportunity to leave your mark on products that scale and matter.
