Job summary

Saint Kentigern in Auckland seeks a Senior School Head of House for Cargill House to nurture pastoral and academic growth in Years 11–13. You will lead pastoral care, monitor attendance and wellbeing, and collaborate with the wider team to support students.

The role requires a registered NZ teacher with a valid practicing certificate, a Dip Teaching or equivalent, and a track record in school leadership and student development. Competitive remuneration and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Registered NZ teacher with valid practicing certificate required.
• Dip Teaching and tertiary degree.
• First aid certificate is preferable.
• Strong teaching and pastoral care experience is expected.
• Track record of leadership in pastoral care is desirable.
• Experience in a secondary school environment is essential.
• Experience building relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
• Experience using data to support student wellbeing and achievement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the pastoral care of all students within the House, ensuring students are known, supported and appropriately challenged.
• Build strong partnerships with parents, caregivers and staff to support student wellbeing, development and success.
• Monitor student attendance, engagement, behaviour, wellbeing and academic progress with timely interventions.
• Collaborate with Learning Support, Counsellors, Senior Leaders and the pastoral team to support wellbeing, engagement and achievement.
• Foster a positive and inclusive House culture aligned with the College's values and mission.
• Develop and lead the House Pastoral Care Team under the Deputy Principal (PC).
• Lead implementation of the College pastoral care programme within the House.
• Monitor data to identify trends and support student pathways.

Skills

Registered NZ teacher with PCA
