Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Remote Insurance Underwriter specializing in General Liability. The role is fully remote, allowing you to work from home from anywhere in South Africa.

You will assess applications, set terms, and decide on coverage for new and renewal submissions while upholding underwriting guidelines. Ideal candidates have at least five years of General Liability experience, strong analytical and negotiation skills, and proficiency with underwriting software.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years underwriting experience with a focus on General Liability.
• In-depth knowledge of general liability principles, policy structures and risk assessment.
• Proven ability to make sound underwriting decisions independently.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, effective in a virtual environment.
• Proficiency in using underwriting software and standard office tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze applications and documentation to assess risks for general liability.
• Determine policy terms, pricing and coverage limits based on risk.
• Underwrite new business submissions and renewals per guidelines.
• Collaborate with brokers and agents to gather information and provide decisions.
• Maintain understanding of general liability products, market trends and exposures.
• Monitor performance of assigned book and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Provide underwriting support and guidance to junior team members.
• Contribute to development and refinement of underwriting tools and processes.
