Job summary

The Standardsnz Interior Limited in Auckland is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team. The successful candidate will handle construction, installation, and maintenance of wooden structures in compliance with New Zealand building codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Two years of relevant carpentry experience or a Level 4+ carpentry qualification.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications.
  • Good understanding of New Zealand building codes and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret building plans to determine materials, dimensions and installation procedures.
  • Erect and set up wooden structures such as walls and frames according to project specs.
  • Carry out interior woodwork installations and ensure workmanship aligns with plans and schedules.
  • Order timber and materials, prepare layouts, and ensure availability.
  • Measure and cut materials to required sizes and complete repairs as needed.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and report safety or equipment issues.

We are seeking skilled Carpenters to join our team, responsible for the construction, installation, and maintenance of wooden structures, fixtures, and fittings in compliance with New Zealand's building codes and safety standards. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of carpentry tasks, from interpreting and reviewing building plans to the execution of complex woodwork. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities of this role :

  • Reviewing and interpreting building plans and specifications to determinematerials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
  • Erecting and setting up wooden structures such as walls, staircases, windowframes and door frames in line with project specifications.
  • Carrying out interior woodwork installations, ensuring customer satisfactionaccording to plans, schedules and specifications.
  • Ordering and selecting timber and materials, preparing layouts forconstruction, and ensuring material availability.
  • Crafting, fitting and installing woodwork, wooden structures, wallboard, timberflooring, and window frames.
  • Assembling and nailing pre-prepared wood components to from structuresand fittings.
  • Measuring and cutting materials to the right size and shape for installation.
  • Removing outdated fittings and carrying out necessary repairs to maintain theintegrity and functionality of the structure.
  • Maintain and clean company tools and equipment to ensure optimalperformance.
  • Reporting any equipment defects or damage to management to ensureworkplace safety and compliance.
  • Adhering to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations whileensuring work meets New Zealand’s building standards.

Job pre-requisites :

  • At least two years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a relevant level 4 orabove qualification is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Eyes for details and a hard-working attitude.
  • Good understanding of New Zealand building codes, health and safetyregulations, and industry standards is preferred.
