Job summary

Kea Aerospace seeks a Senior Power Electronics Engineer for its Christchurch team. You will own electronics development from requirements to flight-tested hardware in a high-altitude aerospace environment.

Strong background in power electronics or related fields is essential, with autonomous, agile work in a small team. Experience with PCB design, EMI/EMC and thermal management is valued.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years hands-on electronics experience.
• Strong power-electronics background with hardware focus.
• Ability to define system requirements and trade studies.

Responsibilities

• Define electronic system requirements, architecture and trade studies.
• Lead design and optimisation of power-conversion and data-collection electronics.
• Design analog circuits, schematics, PCBs and magnetic components.
• Develop lightweight, high-efficiency hardware for aircraft use.
• Model efficiency, mass, cost and performance to guide decisions.
• Prototype, test, debug, and investigate faults under flight conditions.
• Address EMI/EMC, thermal, packaging, reliability and manufacturability.
• Support environmental qualification, integration and flight testing.
• Produce technical reports to explain findings and inform design.
• Collaborate with design, test and manufacturing for flight-ready hardware.
