Job summary

The Department of Conservation is seeking a Senior Permissions Advisor to support the application process and provide expert analysis, based in Dunedin, Christchurch, or Wellington, with other locations considered. Some roles may be fully remote for specific bases.

Key duties include pre-application discussions, complex application assessments, and delivering high-quality reports to inform final decisions, within an inclusive team environment.

Qualifications

Demonstrated strong analytical skills with ability to translate analysis into reports.
Confident communicator who builds trust with others.
Understanding of statutory work and conservation regulation.
Experience in project management and leading process improvements.
Mentoring and coaching capability.
Background in planning/regulatory processes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Support the application process and provide technical support for submitted applications.
Hold pre-application discussions with stakeholders.
Carry out critical assessment and analysis of complex applications, producing quality written reports for final decisions.
Contribute to process improvements and build relationships with stakeholders to provide professional advice.
