Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Payroll Controller based in Dunedin to ensure accurate and timely pay for our 6,300+ Southern region employees. You will work within the Southern payroll team, managing complex processes and ensuring compliance with legislation and agreements.

The role requires strong NZ payroll knowledge, experience with payroll systems, and the ability to improve processes in a busy, high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years proven payroll experience in a high-volume environment.
• Experience interpreting employment and collective agreements.
• Strong knowledge of NZ payroll legislation, including Holidays Act.
• Experience with payroll systems and integrated workforce systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication; able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work self-directed within a small team.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with employees on the use of new technology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain payroll controls and resolve complex payroll matters.
• Provide specialist payroll expertise within the Southern payroll team.
• Ensure end-to-end payroll processing for 6,300+ employees.
• Support compliance with legislation and collective agreements.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Partner with stakeholders to deliver a high-quality payroll service.
