Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Payroll Controller in Dunedin to ensure accurate and timely pay for our workforce. Working within the Southern payroll team as part of our national payroll service, you will manage complex payroll processes, apply NZ payroll legislation, and interpret collective agreements.

The role covers end-to-end payroll for just over 6,300 Southern employees across Otago, Southland, Queenstown/Lakes, and North Otago.

Qualifications

• 3+ years proven experience in payroll within a complex, high-volume environment
• Experience interpreting employment and collective agreements
• Strong knowledge of NZ payroll legislation, Holidays Act
• Experience with payroll systems and integrated workforce systems
• Customer-focused, self-directed, and able to work in a team

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and on-time payroll for 6,300+ employees
• Maintain payroll controls and resolve complex payroll matters
• Support compliance with legislation, agreements and organisational policies
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver a high-quality payroll service
