Job summary

Higgins is a leading construction and infrastructure company in New Zealand. We’re seeking an experienced Paving Manager to lead the delivery of our asphalt surfacing programme across the Waikato.

This hands-on leadership role owns project delivery, commercial performance, client relationships and coordination of crews, plant and resources. Working closely with operational and technical teams, you’ll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Eight years’ experience across asphalt surfacing, hot mix or aggregates.
• Strong project planning, operational management and resource coordination skills.
• Experience managing budgets, project costs, reporting and P&L performance.
• Sound knowledge of construction contracts, standards and commercial requirements.
• A practical and inclusive leader who communicates clearly and builds trusted relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, programming and delivery of asphalt surfacing projects.
• Manage project budgets, forecasts, claims and overall commercial performance.
• Coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials, plant and equipment across multiple projects.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and key stakeholders.
• Oversee quality assurance, contract compliance and project risk management.
• Lead, mentor and develop engineers, supervisors and operational teams.
