Job summary

AECOM in New Zealand is seeking a Senior Pavement Engineer to shape transport networks across Auckland or Christchurch. You will lead pavement investigations, designs, and construction support for highways, airports, and urban infrastructure.

You’ll apply Austroads, NZTA and local standards, mentor graduates, manage client relationships, and deliver high-quality outcomes on time and within budget, with an on-site role in Auckland or Christchurch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years' experience delivering pavement design, investigations and MSQA on NZ transport projects.
• Strong knowledge of Austroads, NZTA standards and local pavement practices.
• Experience leading investigations, materials testing and cost-effective solutions.
• Confident communicator with client, contractor and team liaison.
• Organised and commercially aware with ability to manage priorities.
• Proactive, collaborative mindset and commitment to professional development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pavement investigations, designs and construction support across transport projects.
• Develop innovative pavement solutions using Austroads, NZTA standards.
• Lead investigations, coordinate materials testing and design recommendations.
• Provide technical support during construction, RFIs, site inspections and MSQA.
• Work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver on time and within budget.
• Build client relationships and contribute to project delivery and opportunities.
• Mentor graduates and junior engineers to grow AECOM's talent.
