Job summary

Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley seeks a Senior Patient Safety Advisor based at Wellington Hospital and across Kenepuru & Hutt Hospital sites. The permanent, 0.9 FTE role (Mon-Fri) sits in the Quality & Patient Safety Team, driving patient safety improvements.

You will lead safety initiatives, analyse trends, and support governance and audits across multiple sites. You will be part of a pro-equity culture focused on Māori, Pacific, and disabled communities,

Qualifications

• Relevant health qualification or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of NZ health sector and quality improvement methodologies.
• Experience with patient safety practices and governance.
• Understanding of audit/adverse event review processes.

Responsibilities

• Support a small team of Patient Safety Advisors and provide expert safety advice.
• Analyse data and trends to inform system improvements.
• Contribute to policy development and organisational learning.
• Support audits, reporting and compliance activities as needed.
• Promote equitable health outcomes for Māori, Pacific, and disabled communities.
