Job summary

Canterbury District Health Board is seeking an Obstetrics & Gynaecology Medical Specialist for a fixed-term, 1.0 FTE to join Christchurch Women’s Hospital. The role includes inpatient and acute care, outpatient clinics, and participation in the full on-call roster.

We welcome specialists with broad OB/GYN experience, a commitment to safe, equitable, whānau-centred care, and an interest in teaching and supervising junior medical staff. 18-month term starting 2027.

Qualifications

• Hold specialist qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Have broad experience across obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Be committed to providing safe, equitable and patient and whānau-centred care.
• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Have an interest in teaching, supervision and supporting junior medical staff.
• Be willing to participate fully in the department’s after-hours and on-call roster.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and acute care, outpatient clinics and contribute to the on-call roster.
• Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and service development.
