Job summary

OSPRI in New Zealand seeks a Senior .NET Developer to contribute to development, support, maintenance, and modernization of our core business systems, focusing on web apps and integrations.

You will lead technical initiatives, collaborate with stakeholders and vendors, and help reduce debt while ensuring security and reliability. This is a two-year fixed-term role aligned with our Technology Roadmap and flexible work options.

Kŋŋro mo te tūkāna - About the Role

Part of the Applications and Products team, the Senior .NET Developer contributes to development, support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across OSPRI’s application landscape, with a focus on web applications, APIs, integrations, and supporting services. The role works with internal and external stakeholders, and oversees vendor-delivered work to ensure quality, knowledge transfer, and alignment with OSPRI standards.

This is a two-year fixed-term role established to accelerate delivery of OSPRI’s Technology Roadmap and support the ongoing evolution of OSPRI’s core business systems. Working as a technical leader and subject matter expert the role will help drive application modernisation, platform enhancements, technical debt reduction and technology improvement initiatives across OSPRI’s technology landscape.

The role is responsible for the development, enhancement, support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of OSPRI’s business-critical applications and integration services. It delivers solution design, custom development, integration, troubleshooting, testing, and release support, ensuring systems remain reliable, secure, scalable, and fit for purpose.

What success will look like:

• Working across the business and external stakeholders to ensure applications are successfully migrated to a modern, supported platform, reducing operational risk, improving security and reliability, and providing a stable foundation for future enhancements and ongoing support.
• Applications are stabilised, priority defects resolved, and technical debt reduced.
• Applications are modernised into secure, reliable, and supportable platforms that improve user experience, reduce technical debt, and provide a sustainable foundation for future capabilities.
• Technical solutions align with architecture, security, and supportability standards.
• Software changes follow recognised engineering practices and a controlled SDLC.
• Vendor-delivered changes meet OSPRI standards, are documented and able to be supported internally.
• Platform improvements reduce risk, manual effort or operational pain points.

You’re an experienced, pragmatic senior software developer who enjoys solving complex problems, modernising critical systems, and delivering high-quality solutions collaboratively. With proven end-to-end software development lifecycle experience and a passion for engineering best practices. You take ownership of outcomes, share knowledge openly, and balance innovation with security, reliability, and long-term supportability.

You will bring:

• Proven experience delivering and supporting enterprise applications using C# and .NET Core/.NET (minimum 5 years).
• Experience building and integrating APIs, web services, and cloud-based solutions.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting secure, scalable, and maintainable enterprise applications.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, including application hosting, integration, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for automated cloud deployment and management.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, including SQL stored procedures and performance optimisation.
• Experience producing technical designs and contributing to solution architecture for application development, system integration, and platform modernisation initiatives.
• Experience modernising legacy applications and reducing technical debt.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical, supportable technical solutions.
• Strong collaboration skills, with experience working alongside business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and external vendors to deliver high-quality technology solutions and business outcomes.
• Ability to mentor others and contribute to technical standards and best practices.
• A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality outcomes.
