Job Description:

Mane are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor. Our client is involved in projects within pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial, food, commercial, and retail industries.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for monitoring project finances and contractual relationships. This role ensures that the financial position of projects is accurately reported and effectively controlled.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaising and reporting to the Project Director and Contracts Manager.
  • Coordinating with the team to ensure project requirements and specifications are met.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with client representatives.
  • Attending regular site meetings and effectively communicating project updates while tracking and resolving issues.
  • Reviewing tender enquiries and conducting tender analysis for projects.
  • Estimating and tendering for projects in collaboration with the Head Office team.
  • Negotiating new projects and fixed price agreements that are cost-effective.
  • Organizing and chairing pre-award meetings with new subcontractors.
  • Managing subcontract purchasing and monitoring on-site packages.
  • Tracking contra charges and notifying subcontractors accordingly.
  • Handling subcontractor re-measurement, interim and final account payments.
  • Processing fortnightly/monthly subcontractor payment certificates.
  • Compiling the variation log and signing off on variations with Project Quantity Surveyors.
  • Issuing interim payment applications and correlating payments received.
  • Preparing final accounts at the end of each project.
  • Cost monitoring and reporting using construction software and attending monthly cost meetings.
  • Cash flow forecasting and issuing monthly reports to accounts.
  • Staying informed about industry changes and competitive developments.
  • Providing leadership, motivation, and mentoring to junior and intermediate Quantity Surveyors.
  • Performing other duties and projects as assigned.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a mechanical contracting role with a proven track record of dealing with subcontractors and clients on valuations, variations, final accounts, and cost reporting.
  • Strong understanding of specifications, bills of quantities, and drawings.
  • Ability to extract quantities from drawings and issue enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate quotations within deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other Quantity Surveying software.
  • Proven track record in commercial and industrial projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide and explain accurate reporting.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
