Overview

The Role

I'm currently representing an established multi-partner CA firm with a lengthy history in the Waikato market; seeking an experienced Tax Manager seeking a step up in a generalist tax function with a heavy focus on Tax Advisory.

Responsibilities
  • Applying a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, case law interpretation, and current Inland Revenue rulings.
  • Managing and mentoring junior tax specialists to ensure the delivery of high-quality client service.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships by acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring timely, effective communication.
  • Conducting comprehensive research across relevant materials and information sources to produce well-reasoned, analytical tax opinions.
  • Interpreting and applying research findings to specific client scenarios, including evaluating alternative positions and potential adverse outcomes.
  • Demonstrating familiarity with the tax lodgement programme and associated payment obligations.
  • Applying a sound understanding of financial statements and their implications for tax compliance and planning.
  • Effectively utilising compliance procedures to identify and assess potential tax planning opportunities.
  • Demonstrating working knowledge of relevant non-tax financial matters as they relate to the broader advisory function.
What You Will Bring to Our Team
  • Relevant qualifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA) designation or a Law degree
  • A minimum of five years' tax experience, ideally within a professional services firm or a combination of professional services and corporate tax roles, with specific exposure to New Zealand tax regulations
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organisational abilities and effective time management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • A professional demeanor with a strong client service orientation
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and team-focused approach
