Job description

We’re looking for someone reliable, observant, and enthusiastic to join our dedicated lifeguard team at Gore Aquatic Centre. Whether you’re experienced or just starting out, this is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a supportive environment.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our patrons by actively supervising aquatic activities, responding to incidents, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer service.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Monitor aquatic facilities and interact with patrons to ensure a safe environment.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to patrons in difficulty.
  • Report hazards, accidents, or injuries immediately
  • Promote the facility and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with programs and events, including equipment setup.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the facility.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by supervisors.
  • Be available for on-call shifts as per the staffing roster.
  • Notify supervisors in advance if unable to work a shift and arrange approved replacements.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to relate well to people of all ages.
  • Confidence in rescue techniques and first aid.
  • Flexibility to assist with other duties during busy periods.
  • Willingness to work towards Aquatics Level 3 Qualification.
  • Applicants must have the right to live and work in New Zealand.
