Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality lifeguard supervision and promote safe behaviour within the facility.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, and first aid situations.
  • Mentor, guide, and support lifeguards in their daily duties.
  • Ensure aquatic facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Monitor and maintain pool water quality in accordance with New Zealand standards.
  • Conduct plant and equipment checks and assist with troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Support health and safety initiatives, hazard identification, and incident reporting.
  • Assist with facility programmes, events, and equipment setup.
  • Promote positive customer experiences through proactive engagement and excellent service.
  • Work collaboratively across the Gore Multisport Complex to support facility operations.

Are you passionate about water safety, customer service, and leading by example? We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Lifeguard to join our Aquatic Centre team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in maintaining high safety standards, and is committed to creating a positive experience for our community.

As a Senior Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all Aquatic Centre users. You will provide vigilant supervision of aquatic activities, respond to emergencies, mentor lifeguards, and support the day-to-day operation of the facility.

This role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute to a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for our customers while supporting the ongoing development of the wider lifeguard team.

Job requirements

  • New Zealand Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate.
  • Workplace First Aid Certificate.
  • Pool water treatment knowledge or a willingness to gain relevant qualifications.
