Qualifications

Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa's prestigious School of Nursing is seeking a vibrant and engaged Senior Lecturer to join its academic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to bring nursing and primary mental health expertise into a university education setting, bridging clinical theory and practice to prepare the next generation of skilled and confident healthcare professionals.
Join one of Aotearoa New Zealand's leading nursing schools and help shape the future of nursing education, practice and healthcare. The position is offered as two ongoing full-time appointments, with one position based on our Wellington campus and the other on our Manawatū campus, commencing in January 2027.
To work with an experienced team to develop contemporary nursing curricula in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that supports clinically and culturally safe nursing practice.
To teach in a wide range of nursing courses, such as, professional nursing, mental health, and evidence-based practice.
To collaborate in a vibrant research environment to advance nursing knowledge and practice and improve patient health outcomes.
The salary range for the position Senior Lecturer Range 1 (2026) is $107,916 - $132,892 (NZD) and the amount determined will take into account the candidate's qualifications and experience.
The employment setting will involve working with people across the lifespan and applicants will be required to comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and the Vulnerable Children (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children's Workers) Regulations 2015.
- Registered Nurse with a current annual practicing certificate (APC).
- A PhD or equivalent in nursing or a related field.
- Clinical experience and cultural competence in nursing and education.
- Excellent communication in nursing and inter-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in curriculum development and blended teaching approaches including online technologies.
- Demonstrated engagement within the nursing sector, with community and Iwi partners, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to contribute to research projects and mentor junior staff.
- Publications in national journals in nursing or health-related fields.
