Stats NZ in Wellington is seeking a Senior Insights Analyst for Labour Market Statistics to develop expertise in employment data, derive actionable insights, and support key statistical releases including HLFS and QES. You will mentor analysts and collaborate with government agencies to drive high‑quality research.

You will contextualise findings within broader economic trends to inform decision‑making across Aotearoa and contribute to the work of the Labour Market Statistics Unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, computer science or related field with a strong data component.
• Experience leading and developing technical capability, coaching others.
• Strong ability to tell stories with data and develop labour market expertise.
• Familiarity with R or SAS (or other statistical packages).
• Commitment to Te Tiriti/Tikanga/Te Reo/Te Ao Māori.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analytical work on key national employment data to derive meaningful insights.
• Provide expert guidance on core statistical releases (HLFS, QES) and related analyses.
• Partner with government agencies and stakeholders to deliver complex research.
• Contextualise findings within broader economic trends to support decision-making.
