Job summary

Shotover Jet in Queenstown (Otago) seeks a Senior Maintenance Technician to ensure safe, reliable operation of our jet boat fleet. You will diagnose, repair, and service high‑performance engines, electrical systems, and water‑jet propulsion, while applying precision machining and welding across stainless steel and aluminium.

With 3+ years in mechanical maintenance and at least 1 year with jet boats or marine engines, you’ll follow drawings, SOPs, and service bulletins, support continuous

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mechanical or maintenance technician experience.
• At least 1 year working with jet boats, marine systems, or high‑performance engines.
• Strong diagnostics, repairs, and fault‑finding across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with machining, mills, lathes, and precision measurement.
• Proficiency in MIG/TIG welding across aluminium and stainless steel.
• Commitment to health and safety, teamwork and quality workmanship.
• Willingness to grow understanding of Ngāi Tahu values, te reo Māori, and tikaka.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining jet boat fleet components.
• Performing precision machining, fabrication, and welding as needed.
• Interpreting technical drawings, specifications, SOPs, and service bulletins.
• Conducting refits, servicing, and daily checks to high engineering standards.
• Supporting continuous improvement of engineering processes.
• Providing delegated leadership and daily coordination when required.
• Ensuring compliance with Maritime NZ Rule Part 82 and safety practices.
