Job summary

Forte Recruitment in Auckland seeks an experienced audit, risk, or regulatory professional to join its Inspectorate team. You will be based in the Auckland office and work with four colleagues, applying accounting, audit, or regulatory expertise to protect public trust through oversight of client trust accounts.

In this hybrid role, you will engage with firms and financial institutions, prepare evidence-based reports, and support regulatory tools and guidance.

Qualifications

• CA or legal qualifications with accounting experience.
• Proven experience in audit, inspection, or regulatory compliance.
• Strong accounting controls and risk assessment knowledge.
• Proficient with audit systems, data tools, and Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Driver’s license and ability to travel.

Senior Inspector – Trust Account Regulation

Forte Recruitment – Auckland, North Island

Our client, a national regulatory organisation, is seeking an experienced audit, risk, or compliance professional to join its Inspectorate team.

This role uses your accounting, audit, or regulatory expertise to protect public trust through oversight of client trust accounts.

You will be based in an Auckland office of around 50 people, working closely with four other team members in this function.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct risk-based trust account inspections and review financial controls


• Identify compliance gaps, investigate issues, and assess risk


• Prepare clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations


• Engage with firms, financial institutions, and regulatory stakeholders


• Support regulatory tools, frameworks, and guidance

Backgrounds of interest:

• External or internal audit


• Regulatory compliance


• Banking risk or fraud


• Financial services inspection


• Investigations

What you will bring:

• Preferably CA or Legal qualifications with practical accounting experience


• Proven experience in audit, inspection, or regulatory compliance
  
• Strong accounting, controls, and risk assessment knowledge


• Confidence with audit systems, data tools, and Excel


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Able to work independently and travel as required


• A current driver’s license - mandatory

Practice Manager or trust account supervision experience is highly regarded. This role suits professionals who can work autonomously, exercise sound judgement, and confidently present findings in formal regulatory settings.
