Job summary

ACCIONA in New Zealand is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to oversee the design elements of a major transport infrastructure project. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will coordinate the design team, including internal resources and external consultants, and ensure quality control of deliverables.

You will work with construction and procurement to integrate design requirements into the wider project strategy, and play a key role in stakeholder coordination and consultant management.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical.
• Experience in engineering design within infrastructure delivery.
• Skilled in producing and reviewing technical drawings and specs.
• Strong multidisciplinary teamwork and communication.
• Understanding of design standards and delivery processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage the design program schedule.
• Run critical path reviews and adjust plans.
• Facilitate risk workshops with project teams.
• Oversee consultant agreements and performance.
• Negotiate contract terms and manage commercial risk.
• Coordinate design approvals across disciplines.
• Drive constructability and value engineering reviews.
