Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Lead for Major Projects to provide specialist oversight across a portfolio of capital builds. You will work with project teams, contractors and consultants to ensure safety requirements are understood and applied from planning to handover.

You will manage high-risk activity, critical controls and complex interfaces with live healthcare services.

Qualifications

• Qualified health and safety professional with significant high-risk environment experience.
• Experience across major capital projects from planning through handover.
• Strong knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and contractor interfaces.
• Proven ability to interpret audit findings and drive actions.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and practical health and safety advice across major capital projects.
• Ensure critical risk controls and Safe Systems of Work are applied on site.
• Oversee assurance and reporting, auditing findings and trends.
• Engage project teams, contractors and leaders to implement improvements.
