About the Role
Full-time Senior House Officer positions are available at Health NZ (Nelson Marlborough) at Wairau Hospital. These positions are suitable for PGY2 and above and commence in January 2026.
As a Senior House Officer, you will assess and admit all admissions, perform physical examinations, implement treatment plans, maintain clinical records, and attend weekly meetings, among other duties.
Senior House Officer run opportunities include General Medicine, Geriatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, O&G/Paediatrics, Relief, and Emergency.
The working hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm daily, with long days from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Night shifts are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Admission shifts are from 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm.

Wairau Hospital is located at the Top of the South, close to the Charlotte Sounds, Picton (ferry to Wellington), Kaikoura, two hours to Nelson, and four hours to Christchurch. It is a new hospital situated in a vineyard-filled, sunny area of the South Island. The hospital fosters collegiality and collaboration across disciplines.
